Frequently Asked Questions
You've got questions. We've got answers!
Is there a predictable, yearly scope and sequence for teaching the bundles so that the SEL/SJ work is not so isolated?
The short answer is yes. The long answer is that we have created a scope and sequence to get through all of the content across the year. However, our intention is for these bundles to be responsive to what your students need. That's why each lesson in every bundle can be used as a stand alone resource to support your child with a specific skill. We recommend using the scope and sequence and to use your classroom observations to pull what your students' need.
Can these charts be used across grade levels and what is the continuum? How are the skills developed across grade levels?
Many children and adult could use support cultivating these skills through direct instruction. We offer strategies for scaffolding and for spiraling the different strategies to meet the academic, social and emotional needs of each grade level in our accompanying guides.
What is the inner work for educators?
Inner work is the work we do on our own and in true community with our colleagues to cultivate our innate healing capacity, sharpen our intuition, learn skills we haven't had the opportunity to develop in our own education as well as unlearn any harmful or oppressive ways of engaging due to our own education.
Do these resources support students on the spectrum who need explicit instruction on interpersonal skills?
Absolutely, we believe that everyone could benefit from explicit instruction and that social emotional learning and social justice education is just as valuable as literacy, math and science skills in terms of what it takes to teach the content.
What are the skills that kids are walking away with from Kindergarten to Grade 8? What is the Continuum?
Students are walking away with developmentally appropriate skills, exercises and activities for social emotional and social justice learning.
How do these bundles correlate to other content areas?
These bundles can bolster any content area because they support students with growing their emotional and social capacity in jut ways. However, it's important to mention that these bundles are even more powerful when woven into literacy, social emotional learning, social justice education, and social studies content areas. We offer a ton of ideas for how to do this work.
We have the bundles we love teaching them. How can we bring you to our home or school for consulting or staff development to receive further support?
You can email me at arlene@reveye.io with requests.
Where do subjects such as healing, trauma and grief fit into social emotional learning and social justice?
We have created two healing centered and trauma responsive frameworks to address this concern. Please take a look at our stories as medicine bundle and our holding space bundle to learn more. Also, each bundle has a healing centered and trauma informed approach to teaching into these tender areas.
